Day 7–Clinton State Park - Fernandina Beach, Florida

on Sunday, January 4, 2015

It was 71 degrees at 6:30 am  and looking like it will be a bright, sunny day, so we decided to try and secure another site for tonight. We were looking at two empty sites all last evening so were hoping that we could move to one of them today.

We were able to get another site – 2 sites over – one of the sites that was empty last night. The ranger told us that site had been booked by someone with a tent. The person over road the system and lied stating they were in an RV and not a tent. On arrival they were not allowed in the RV site so it remained empty.

We had to break down, drive the 100 feet to the new site and set up again. It didn’t take long and we are happy that we can stay another night.

Not much happening today. We hung around reading and enjoying the ocean and beautiful day. Rain is expected to move in the early evening so we took Jewel for her last walk of the day around 4.  Several people we stopped to speak to let us know that we are under a tornado watch until 6 pm.  SERIOUSLY!!!!! What is it with those dam tornadoes'. Wherever we go we are either in a “watch” or warning” area. Geeze!

The rain and wind picked up around 5pm but it wasn’t too bad. All in all we had a great, lazy day at the beach! Will be heading out in the morning and snake our way along the Florida coast to Texas.
