We were up and on the road by 9:30 am with the goal of traveling the 390 miles to Gila Bend. We are on our way to Quartzsite, the largest dry camping destination in the country.
It was an uneventful drive, except that our Tom Tom GPS finally died with no hope of resuscitation. We have had it for about 7 years and because I was born with NSOD (no sense of direction) using maps is a problem. When we stopped for gas at the Flying J we were able to purchase a Garmin GPS system for a reasonable price. Thank goodness because Ron does NOT trust me with a map. LOL
We arrived at Augie’s Quail Trail at around 5:30 pm. The weather had improved significantly and the sun high in the sky kept the temps in the low 70’s. We sat out in the evening, enjoying the great weather, finally!
Not sure if we will be going to Quartzsite in the morning. Still trying to decide if a road trip in the care to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is still on the table. The man at the CG that checked us in told us it is safe to go there and is a good day trip from the CG.
