After a peaceful night’s sleep we planned to drive to Baker, CA and stop to see the cinder dome in route. There is an unmarked road and trail to the cinder dome but we could not find it.
We continued on to Baker along Kelbaker Road, the road we will be traveling in the MH when we go to Death Valley. The road is mediocre at best with patches of really rough road and winding curves. The pot holes are quite large and make the roads in MA look good.
One of the objectives of going to Baker was to make sure there was a place for us to purchase gas and propane for the MH. Baker is another dying town but has at least 6 gas stations. Interestingly, they had two Shell stations within 1/4 mile of each other with different prices for gas????
Jewel has been traveling with us the last three days and is not a happy girl. It has been too hot to leave her in the MH without power or AC so she has been forced to ride in the car.
We are parked across from the 660 foot Kelso Sand Dunes. You are allowed to walk along the top of the sand dunes but since it is soft and slippery I opted out.
Back at our site we settled in, had dinner and Ron prepared another campfire for us. We didn’t have a very eventful day but enjoyed sitting by the fire.
Another Beautiful Sunset!
We will be heading to Death Valley in the morning. Hopefully we will be able to get a full service CG there. It has been a pain not having phone or internet service out here in the wilderness. Ron has fulfilled his dream of boon docking in the middle of nowhere. A check mark off his bucket list!
