Day 42–Visiting Cousin Nancy, Oxnard, California

on Tuesday, February 10, 2015

The weather has been fantastic with bright sunshine and temps in the mid 70’s. We spent the morning relaxing and then took a ride to the grocery store to restock our supplies.

We went to Nancy’s around 2:30 pm and her contactors were still there. I guess they showed up 90 minutes late so were in the middle of the job.

It turned out to be an eventful afternoon. Several of Nancy’s neighbors stopped by to chat and one neighbor, Lenore, came in with her little dog hopping on three legs and crying. We all checked out Flower’s right front leg and every time we touched it she cried  and whimpered.  At points she was crying really loudly.

We all felt so bad for her and encouraged Lenore to take her to the vet to get her checked out. It looked like Flower either had a broken or dislocated joint causing her a lot of pain. Jewel was hovering around her and was very upset that Flower was crying.

Lenore had to take Flower to two different places before she found a vet. Much to our surprise  90 minutes later Flower was back walking normally and no crying or favoring her right leg. Lenore said it just worked itself out. I think it was dislocated and all the moving around may have helped it back into place. We were all happy to see her well again!

Nancy had at least four friends visit, two with dogs, four contract men, the three of us, then after dinner the security person stopped by to ask to use a pair of scissors. She certainly had a busy day. By 8 pm we were all pretty tired but relieved that Flower was back to normal.

Ron didn’t get Nancy’s Life Line hooked up or her digital picture frame loaded – to busy with emergency dog care! I did mange to get dinner made so we at least got to sit down, catch our breath and enjoy dinner together.

Tomorrow we plan a day getting the things done around the house that Nancy needs. It is suppose to be really beautiful tomorrow so we will also enjoy the good weather.
