This morning was a clean and organize morning. Ron and I went to the front office to check on retaining our site for another night but we were told we would have to move to because of the “large caravan” coming in and there was nothing available. We agreed and hoped we would be able to, move quickly so we could do some sight seeing in the morning.
We both wondered how she could keep telling us there were no sites available when the park was about 50% empty. We were walking past the site we were to move to and there was a fifth wheel already there. The people looked like they were packing up. They had a ton of stuff so we figured it would take them a very long time to move.
Ron and I stopped to talk to them and learned that they had to move out for 24 hours then would be back in that site the next day. There is a rule here that if you stay for 30 days you have to vacate for 24 hours then can return for another 30 days.
So here they were with all there “stuff”. We told them just to leave there belongings on the site. They were grateful for that. We couldn’t see them packing up everything then unpacking less then 24 hours later.
As we we cleaning and reorganizing we watched about 15 MH pack up and move to a different site or leave to make room for the caravan expected in the afternoon.
Bruce had recommended we take a ride to the Cabrillo National Monument about 9 miles from here. The view from the monument is beautiful, overlooking San Diego.
Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo was the first European to set foot on the west coast of what is now the United States. His expedition brought Spain’s first great era of exploration to a close.

There is a National Cemetery on both sides of the road leading into the monument. Very emotional to see all of the white gravestones of all of our military people buried here who served our country so we could maintain the freedom we have today.
We watched a great video presentation and enjoyed looking out over the city. It was really windy and cold up there, so glad we brought our jackets.
As it turned out we didn’t get to visit with Bruce. His MD appointments ran over and he was unable to drive. We received his message kind of late, too late for us to go to visit him. We spoke with him in the evening and promised that we would visit with him on our next trip out here. We have to leave in the morning because there are no sites available.
HMMM. While walking Jewel we noticed that the site we HAD to move out of was still empty as were the 15 other sites people were made to move out of. The caravan never showed up. Wonder what that is all about?????
