Day 2–Travel from NJ to Ashland Virginia, Americamps RV resort

on Tuesday, December 30, 2014

It was a fairly  quite night at the rest area once Ron moved to the “No Idle” area.  He slept really well but I kept waking up every hour on the hour. Not sure why because despite it being 34 degrees outside we were  warm and our bed really comfortable.

We were on the road by 8 am – a record for us ! The traffic wasn’t too bad and we got through Baltimore then DC without any issues. Then we crossed into Virginia and once again  we were in stop and go traffic. It was so bad,  it took us 2 hours to travel under 60  miles. The traffic would jam, the stop then clear up. Except for one accident there was nothing to indicate why this was happening.

After another day of miserable traffic we decided to take a respite and stop at the Americamps RV resort just off the highway. We were on the road for eight hours but only managed to travel 307 miles.

Thank You Kelly and Patrick for the Beautiful Sign!

It was great to stop and get a campsite and  settle in for the night. After a nice dinner (homemade turkey pot pie- previously frozen) we watched some TV and were in bed by  9:30 pm.
